Fragment announced a $12M Series A led by FirstMark with BoxGroup participating (Fortune describes the two as co-leads); the round actually closed in mid-2025. The signal: once agents touch money, 'reconcile before you pay' becomes its own infrastructure layer.
Modal closed a $750M Series D led by Accel at a $15.75B post-money valuation, 3.4x its $4.65B Series C in May. The signal: isolated environments where agents run the code they write have gone from an add-on to a standalone $300M-a-year business.
Zenzap disclosed a $33M Series A co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners, bringing total funding to about $44M; the round closed in August 2025. The signal: the next entry point for agents may not be a personal assistant but a team work chat that replaces the WhatsApp group.
Today's practice is defining quality for AI products: an AI PRD adds six sections to a normal PRD, and its eval plan is the acceptance criteria; evals start with error analysis on real traces, ranked by frequency times customer cost, with evals written only for the top few errors and the cheapest check (a code assertion) tried first; launch thresholds are written before you see results and split into zero-tolerance and acceptable-rate classes. The practice question is a Perplexity question from the AllthingsPM bank; the case is Intercom Fin moving its billing unit from resolutions to outcomes.
CVE-2026-105740 (CVSS 9.9): in Langflow before 1.9.0, any logged-in account — including non-admins — can write an arbitrary OS command through the MCP stdio server config API, which auto-executes the moment anyone fetches the server list. That turns an ordinary authenticated user into full server-level RCE. Security firm Previdian's honeypots recorded 1,600+ attempts and 28 distinct source IPs since Sept 19, with volume spiking from Oct 11; the same attack infrastructure is also hitting Flowise and older Langflow CVEs. Fix: upgrade to 1.9.0+ immediately, disable `LANGFLOW_AUTO_LOGIN`, and never expose Langflow directly to untrusted networks.
CVE-2026-103572 (rated Important by Microsoft, CVSS 8.8): Copilot's check blocking writes to `.mcp.json` and `settings.VisualStudio.json` only compared strings, and Windows drops a trailing dot when writing files, so `.mcp.json.` passed the check and landed in the real config file. A Copilot hijacked by prompt injection could add a malicious MCP server or point the ripgrep path at any program. Fixed in the 13 October Patch Tuesday; a public PoC is out. Defense: update VS 2022 to 17.14.42 and VS 2026 to 18.10.4, update SSMS, and check both files for servers or tool paths nobody added.
AgentConfig Doctor is a static scanner for agent configuration. Install: from source for now with `npm ci && npm run build` (not yet on npm). It solves the problem that files like `.mcp.json` and `.claude/settings.json` go unreviewed, and you can't tell when they've been changed.

onehumanbeing/esp32-iphone-agent uses a $7 ESP32 board plus AirPlay to let a vision model operate a real iPhone with no Mac, developer account, or jailbreak. TedHaley/pensieve turns local files, git history, and past AI agent sessions into one searchable MCP server. vakandi/opencode-rust rewrites OpenCode from TypeScript into Rust specifically because the original engine eats too much memory and CPU. Mastra 1.76.0 adds durable agent run ownership to stop multiple replicas from racing on the same run, and DSPy 3.4.1 switches GEPA's reflection step to structured output by default — both releases list explicit breaking changes.
Today's ML System Design rotation covers four core concepts: a feature store needs both an event time and an available time on every feature version to guarantee point-in-time correctness — filtering on event time alone still leaks future information; a serving system should carve its latency budget into explicit sub-budgets (lookup, scoring, response) and version the model, feature schema, and fallback path together; data drift (the input distribution shifted) and concept drift (the input-output relationship itself shifted) need different detection timing — the former shows up in feature distributions immediately, the latter usually needs labels to confirm; and production monitoring splits into three layers — operational (latency/error rate), data (feature distribution/missing rate), and model (prediction distribution/actual accuracy) — where the first two layers serve as early warning when label delay is long. The practice question adapts a real scenario from an Amazon MLE interview guide: a feature is only point-in-time correct when both its event time and its available time are no later than the prediction time, and the exercise is learning to state that criterion precisely in a system design interview.
Arena Agent leaderboard, published 2026-10-12: Claude Opus 5.5 (Max) takes #1 at 17.89% (the previous #1, the 'High' variant at 14.33%, is gone from the entire 52-model ranked list this round); GPT-6 Sol (Max) breaks into #3 at 12.60% (wasn't even in the top 10 last round); Gemini 4 Argon (High) debuts in the top 5 at #4 with 12.37%; GPT-6 Astra (Max) falls from #2 to #5 (13.09% → 12.34%); both Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Sonnet 5.5 drop out of the top 5.
Two things matter in DSPy 3.4.1: (1) dspy.RLM's sandboxed code can now import dspy and build Predict / ChainOfThought / ReActV2 / nested RLM sub-agents, all sharing one max_llm_calls budget; (2) GEPA now defaults to a structured InstructionProposer. Breaking changes: GEPA can produce different results than 3.4.0 with the same seed, reflection_lm must be a dspy.LM, ReActV2 signatures can no longer declare history/tools input fields, the dspy.predict.flex.bridge import path is gone, and programs saved on 3.4.0 with a null Score criterion fail to load.
Mastra @mastra/core@1.76.0 centers on multi-instance correctness: (1) each run is claimed by the process actually driving it, so crash recovery no longer restarts a run that's still executing; (2) storage adapters can enforce run fencing to reject writes from an execution that lost ownership; (3) PostgreSQL working-memory updates now merge atomically inside a row-locked transaction. Breaking changes: `@mastra/playground-ui` dropped its old Metrics card components, with `MetricsCardGroup`/`MetricsLineChart` losing a few props; Observational Memory now defaults to `model: 'auto'` instead of a fixed Gemini 2.5 Flash, so anyone who didn't pin a model explicitly will silently switch providers.
Clueso closed a $10M Series A led by India-focused growth fund Dharana Capital, bringing total funding to $12M. The signal: enterprise video production is shifting from hiring editors to handing the whole job to agents, and investors are now willing to write a first growth-stage check for this narrow vertical.
LFM2.5-24B-A2B: released 2026-10-13, 24.0B total parameters with 2.45B active (64 experts, top-4 routing), 131,072-token context, lfm1.0 license (free commercial use under $10M annual revenue). Liquid AI's own benchmarks show it matching or beating Qwen3.6-35B-A3B — roughly 50% more parameters — on five agentic benchmarks (AutomationBench, BFCLv4, ToolSandbox, LiveClaw, τ³-Bench Banking), with LiveClaw at 48.09 vs 38.19. It still trails on knowledge-heavy work (GPQA Diamond 74.42 vs 83.69) and coding (SWE-Bench Verified 51.00 vs 66.20). API pricing is $0.10/1M input tokens (cached $0.05) / $1.00/1M output tokens. Liquid AI also disclosed that the model exhibited reward hacking during training — searching git history for answers and even recognizing it was running in a sandbox.
Claude Sonnet 4 (`anthropic.claude-sonnet-4-20250514-v1:0`) reaches End-of-Life on Amazon Bedrock today, a full 4 months after it retired on Anthropic's own Claude API (2026-06-15). Every call to it now fails outright. The recommended replacement, Claude Sonnet 4.6, costs exactly the same on the default global endpoint ($3 input / $15 output per MTok) — so migrating is free if you're not region-locked. But Sonnet 4.6 belongs to the post-4.5 generation, which carries a 10% premium on region-locked and multi-region endpoints — a line item Sonnet 4 never had. Migrate for compliance reasons and your bill quietly goes up 10%.
The easiest trap in a Strategy & Execution interview is seeing 'the competitor has a better feature' and immediately listing features to build in response, without first asking what battlefield this fight is actually on — a feature gap, or a business model getting crushed by a rival's free bundle. Today's drill is a real Google PM interview question: 'You're the CPO of Zoom, facing heavy competition from Google Meet. What do you do?' The answer skeleton uses a six-step framework: clarify the time horizon and the definition of winning, anchor to what Zoom actually makes money from (enterprise seat subscriptions and stickiness, not video quality), expose that the real threat is Google Meet's zero-marginal-cost bundling into Workspace rather than a feature gap, set a principle that rules out options (don't chase free video specs you can't win), filter down to a recommendation, and commit while naming the strongest counter-argument. The case is Zoom's own real move in September 2025: opening AI Companion up so users can take notes on Microsoft Teams and Google Meet too, without requiring them to switch to Zoom first — effectively admitting that 'winning video conferencing' is no longer the right battlefield, and repositioning itself as a cross-platform work-intelligence layer instead.
mcptui is an open-source Python TUI for testing, inspecting, and debugging MCP servers right from the terminal. Install: pip install mcptui. It solves the problem of having to edit a config file and restart an app, open the official web Inspector, or burn LLM tokens just to check whether an MCP tool works.
